Hello,
I received an email from Eric Klein - Founder, ObesityHelp.com asking:  "How have you been?  According to information you entered into your profile with us, it was on this day, 4 years ago that you began your new life as a post op. Congratulations on that rebirth!"  Well, I did remember that I had RNY surgery in March but I forgot the actual date (not the year).  Nice to receive that email.  He asked if I could update my profile as there are many post-ops but not as many updates from people years out from surgery.  Said there are people who are skeptical of the surgery.

This forum was the way I found information about gastric bypass surgery.  I researched the surgery and emailed people on this forum as there was no support group or surgery in Manitoba 4 years ago.  I had to go to Alberta and travel all that way, there were no surgeons here to provide followup, there were no dieticians to help as well.  It is great that we have a program here in Manitoba.  I know there are limitations with the program but it's sounds stable and is growing (think back 4 yrs ago, no surgery here in MB).

I am feeling great, managed to keep 110 lbs off for 4 years.... that is pretty good isn't it?  I would recommend anyone who is obese and struggling with getting that weight off to really consider gastric bypass surgery.  Research the different types of surgery, talk to people on the forum, ask questions.....

Thanks for asking about the vets.  I do wish the vets would keep in touch as well.   I am interested in the support group at the Victoria and hope to get to one of the meet & greets.

I guess that I'm a vet. I had my surgery in December 2010.

I am very disappointed that I can't seem to get to my goal of 180 but I will take 195 over 313 any day! I do not regret my surgery for one minute. In fact, it was the best decision I ever made. It gave me my life back. I can now go for long walks and take the stairs. Buying clothing is so much easier now!

I am grateful everyday for all the support I got through the fantastic people on this website. We all rock! LOL!

I'm here, I'm here, count me in!
Sorry, don't get on here as much as I used to.
I just hit my 6 month mark and I'm down 77 lbs. Started at 239 with a bmi of I think it was 40 and I'm down to 162 with a bmi of 28. I went from morbidly obese level 2 to now just being overweight. I can't believe how much my life has changed in just 6 months. I also can't believe that soon I'll be seeing the scale move to the 150's in a couple of more pounds. I am 22 pounds away from my own personal goal weight and had surpassed the nut's goal of 165-170. I wish everyone here much success in their journeys no matter what stage your at. Trust me I remember being on the list, then the appt lists and finally a date. We all will get there but the waiting does suck. Be patient cuz when your turn comes, it's like winning the lottery!

I'm here just not as much, I try to read every couple of days so i don't miss a meet n greet.
Almost at are one year Sondra, I was hoping to hit the 100 lbs down but it looks like it will take me a little longer. My weight lose slowed right down at the 6 month mark so i started working out and have dropped a lot of inches.
I also was having trouble with my thyroid ( have been on meds for 14 yrs for it) my level was at the high end of normal and needs to be at the low end for me, it was never that high before, don't know it the surgery effects it or not, time will tell. i have to get it checked every 3 months.
I finally feel back to normal, lots of energy and the scale is moving a little bit.
Happy Mothers Day to all you moms!!!!

Hello, I am here,  just not as often. Life is busy.  Love it.
To date, I have lost 140+lbs.  I still do not weigh myself very often.  I am still losing like crazy.  I have just found out that I have a parathyroid hormone and calcium malabsorption issue, ??? WTH... I chose VSG because I was lead to believe, that VSGer's did not suffer malabsorption issues.  Not the case, apparently.  My continued weight loss is getting to be a bit concerning. I have been referred to an endocrinologist.... So hopefully the weight loss tapers off soon.  I have however, been fortunate to be able to fall in love with exercise!  I have never been so healthy.  I love my new body and life.  I have energy to be an active participant in my family's lives, where previously, I was merely only a bystander... I am very, very thankful indeed.
