Victoria Hospital Meet & Greets
So as some of you may or may not know I work at the VIC. The new bariatric clinic that has been set up there is just on the verge of opening it's doors!! Yesterday I spoke with the 2 RN's that will be running the clinic and asked about booking a classroom to have our meet & greets each month.
To my surprise they told me they already have that in the works. They realize how important it is for all of us to have a place that we feel comfortable and also have the privacy to share all our different stories. So basically it would be a support group run by the Bariatric Program.
They told me that they hoped that the group would be set up for meetings by the early summer. They also mentioned that if they couldn't get space at the Vic, there were other options available, for example...the refit centre.
Hope this helps ladies, I guess in the mean time we can continue to have the M & G wherever works best for all of us.
Hope this helps:)

At my appt with Dr. Vergis on thursday, I had a long chat with Twyla (one of the RNs) about the M & G the night before and she told me the same thing. She said she has an aunt that would benefit from something like that and she would like to come with her. We also talked about maybe having something like a short presentation and some Q & A (maybe a couple of vets or a NUT or a psych, etc) and then the usual mingle and chat, exchange clothes and even a protien "try out" with either shakes or samples of favorite recipes. The possibilities are endless but I think securing a spot is probably the most important thing to begin with. Dr. Vergis thought the M & G ideas were great. On a side note the baggies of protein powder that Rainyone had given me fell out of my binder when I opened it and I had some s'plaining to do..... haha. White powder in unmarked baggies...... lol
I think the program will run alot smother with the RNs on board as well. Poor Andrea always seems so swamped and I am sure things come at her from all directions. I talked to her about the move and she will be going to the Vic as well (which she says is farther from where she works now so that is kinda sucky) but it might be worth it if she has a better work space and it will probably mean more appt time for the Drs as they won't lose any time traveling back and forth (maybe a couple more appts a week, but even that will be helpful)

@ NotoriousgrannyD...you crack me up! ( no pun intended) about the mysterious white powder, LOL. Glad you spoke with Twyla, she is great and the more people that express their desire & need for this support the better.
@ Sondra...no worries, it was the least I could do seeing you in such a crummy situation. Hope you have your feet up and are taking it easy...keep us posted on your recovery:)
