Group Session

Not for me yet, but for a woman that I know. 

She was reffered back in September and was called for a group session in May.  She missed the message, and was pushed back to June for the group session but is scheduled.

So.. in theory, her wait for the group session was only 8 months as opposed to the 18 that we are hearing.  They probably thought that the Province was going to act quicker and open the criteria. At any given day that could happen.  I sure hope it's not before I get my date.... (no offence to those waiting who have been denied.)....

This is the biggest chunk of hope that I have had in this process since Feb when I called Andrea. 

So... if trends continue at this rate, I should have my group session along with the December refferals in August 2012 and Surgery Feb/March 2013 ?

That would be so awesome..wonder if Andrea would know anymore based on stories like ths??? There was someone here last week who got the call for surgery and she said it was exactly one year to the date??

I have no idea how things are done. When I talked to andrea before I booked my surgery in Mexico it sounded like I was looking at september at the earliest ( I'm a may , 2011 referal) someone who was refered around my time was given a surgery date of june. Granted she had completed her appointments earlier then I did.

I'm happy I went to mexico. I had changed my mind about the RNY  vs VSG and I figure that would have added time to the surgery by the time I re booked with the surgeon to sign a new consent , got a upper gi  , etc... maybe another appt with laura etc. And I had the best experience there. I'm just happy that summer is going to be really better without the extra weight.

you are very lucky to have your surgery over with. You made the best decision for you at the time and that's fabulous!  I am struggling with the cost of Mexico, but am still trying to work something out with it. I am in sales and I know that some of my clients judge my weight vs my ability to do my job, so I think that making that financial sacrifice now may pay dividends down the road... 
It's such a hard decision!

I was referred in April 2011, had my group session Dec 16th (although Andrea had called me for November but I didn't get the message, even if she had tried calling me twice with that date, I would probably be done the rest by now) and now have my surgeon consult on May 3.  I have no illusions of having surgery before fall, maybe Christmas......... things always slow down in hospitals in the summer (holidays)  but I am hoping they will push through.

And it is disheartening that people who were referred after you already have surgery dates, I am just hoping that Andrea can schedule a NUT appt and psych eval in one trip without delaying either.  If not I will totally do 2 trips ($$$).  I just want the surgery over with before the roads get bad again.  I NEVER want to have to drive the #6 highway like I had to for my info session, it is still giving me nightmares.....
