Today's Provincial Budget

Just had a thought, do you think there will be anything in it that may open up funding for this program? I dont folllow politics much but saw it on the news this morning and that was my first thought..

the gist of the budget was cutbacks.  They are amalgamating 11 RHAs into 5 in order to save $10 million.  LOTS of people will be losing their jobs (probably my boss) so I find it doubtful that any extra funding will be made available for ANY programs.  Also the last programs in are usually the first to be looked at to be cut.  As much as I hope for more funding for this program, I am not holding my breath.

I called Andrea @ St B this morning.  They have not yet broadened the criteria she said they are hoping to get somewhere with Mb Health within 6 months. I just wanted to make sure that I am on the weight (wait) list, and that I dont need to be re-refered by my Dr.

When I received my letter from them in November, at that time their criteria was
1.  Female
2.  Age

 still between 3 and 5 years?

It was 18 months or so when I received my letter that I had met the criteria..that was in January. Apparently, one of the surgeons went on mat leave and that increased the wait to 3-5 years. If they open up the criteria this summer to allow those that were originally denied, then the wait will be even that much greater unless they bring in more surgeons. I honestly cannot see that happening. This seemed like such a dream come true for me and the 18 months wait time was not an issue for me. But once again, I am now on a lengthy list and I am not about to let it slip by me again..hence the Mxico decision. Sad really..

From start to end it took me 5 years.  I had mine done out of province.
