just wanted to let everyone know that the victoria hospital now has a bariatric clinic in the basement next to the pre op lab.im not sure what happens there but i thought i would let you know.

Hmmmm sounds ominous!   Maybe that's where they take you if you cheat on your liquid pre-op diet! LOL

I believe that it's part of exanding the program.

 When I saw Dr Andrew yesterday, I met the new nurse, Twila, who will be working at the clinic at the Vic.  They are moving the clinic from their current location to the Vic so they have access to the whole team.  Also, I had a scope today and have a stricture and an ulcer-sucks! kj

I just read a news piece from CBC on March 6 that says that "Manitoba's weight loss surgery program's future is uncertain".  They also say that 1300 Manitobans applied for the pilot project but they only operated on 110.  Does anyone know any more about how long the waiting list is or whether they are going to continue beyond the pilot program?  I am going to my GP next week to get a referral so am wondering what I am in for in terms of a wait. 

the wait time is  about 3 years now.as far as i know it is now a perment thing,but then again im not positive.the fact that they have the clinic now at the vic is a good sign.

I was referred back in October. I just received a call the other day to attend a mandatory information class on May 4th. The wait from referral to surgery is about a year I was told.
