Thinking about WLS

Hello and welcome Cinnabon! I know a girl from my gym who has had a DS, but she had hers in Belgium about 5 years ago. She said it was cheaper than North America. She has absolutely no regrets and finds the only thing about it is the INCREDIBLY stinky farts and poops (to the point where it interferes with traveling with her son's hockey team as she is embarrassed to stay in a room with anyone). I am not sure if that is with all types of weight loss surgery (she tells me it is because of her shortened GI tract - not sure if it is just her or it is a potential side effect for everyone)
No one has ever mentioned that the DS is available here so I am pretty sure it isn't as most subjects have been touched on in this forum. In MB we now have the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy and the RNY which are covered but the waiting list is long and frustrating. The lap band is also available but costs big bucks, although the wait is pretty much nothing.
Hope some of this helps

Thanks for the reply, and for answering my question. I've done more reading on the board and I think the vsg would be best(at this point anyways,). I have fibromyalgia and need my meds, so I don't really want to deal with the absorption issues with the meds, etc. I also have IBS-C.
Do any of you have Fibro? I live in Winkler.
