private room $
The price for a private room at the VIC is 80$. So if you have semi- private you would have to pay for half-being 40$ per day. But if you have sleep apnea you will be placed in the Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) Room which has 5 beds. It's not the ideal but it does have a nurse who monitors the patients 24/7. If the anaethesiologists or surgeon decide you need that room you have to go into it...no choice.
Another thing is on the post-op surgery floor they only have semi-private or private rooms. There are no rooms except for the OSA room that have more than 2 beds per room, some other hospitals have regular ward rooms with 4 beds per room.
Hope this helps:)

When you register in the Admitting Dept, just let them know that you would like a private room, they should get you to sign a insurance form saying you will pay the difference. If Admitting knows you want a private room they notify the charge nurse on the second floor who assigns the rooms. There are times where all the private rooms are already taken, but the nurses do try to accomodate those requests as best as possible. All surgeries, whether it's weight loss, gyne, or whatever all are on the second floor.
