Looks like I am going to make it down to the M & G this weekend for sure - yaaaay!!  but because I don't make it to the city very often, I am trying to accumulate as much  post surgery suppliments as I can,  a little at a time.  I won't be able to get to Costco so the best I can hope for is Walmart.
Sooo what should I try and pick up from Walmart this trip??  Walmart is still a big thrill for me as we don't have one here (we do have a McDonald's though - so I am not a total hick! lol)

any suggestions for anything good.  We are leaving Sat. morning - I can't wait, I'm soooo excited!!!1

I'm sorry Barb, I think my post was misleading...... I haven't had surgery yet but am just starting my Surgeon/NUT/psych appts in the next month or so.   I don't get to the city very often so I  was hoping to hear from some of the ladies on what a person needs post op so I can buy a little at a time (to avoid a huge "grocery" bill all at once - lol)

Incidently I will be in Selkirk tomorrow as I have a friend there that I am staying at.  I am in need of some clothes but am not sure if there is anywhere in Selkirk to shop for them.  Any suggestions? I will not have time to go shopping in Wpg on Sun. as I am going to the meet and greet at 12 and then straight home cuz it's a looooooong drive.  You should come to the meet and greet and really get a feel for the crowd.  It will be my first and I am excited to attend.  I think this M & G will be like the "annual convention!'  haha

I drank a lot of the body fortess protein powder from there in the beginning. One thing I was really happy to have after surgery was baby wipes.

are you thinking of getting supplements? vitamins?
my advice ( even though im pre op)- be careful how much protein powders you buy, you may like it pre op then not post op. a food processor( walmart has a cute little one for 15-20$) a shake mixer ( unless you get something that blends and purees) a blender bottle ( my fav is from tupperware though) baby spoons, plates, bowls, cups, and sippy cups. gas-x strips, stool softener, benefiber/metamucil, then your vitamins you will need calcium ( must be citrate! not carbonate, personally i love to order my from the states, bariatric advantage chewy bite or calcet creamy bites, i love them but they are pricey) sublingual b12 ( not a pill, or you could do monthly injections) a good multi vitamin( i think your program recommends centrum silver, mine recommends prenatal) vitamin d( depending on who you ask, what ive heard is we shouldnt take it in liquid form, because its based in oil, and we malabsorb oil, so we require a dry d3, i guess this depends whether your having rny or vsg?), and a pill splitter ( dollarama actuially has a decent one), as far as vitamins, you will learn from your lab work, what works for you, ive heard of some people having to take very high amounts of b12 or d, yet others dont. i guess it just depends on how we each absorb. some people also need iron, but my program says i may get enough in my multi ( although calcium in the multi can block the absorbtion of iron, so if your labs show you are low, take iron with vit c and at least 2 hours apart from calcium/dairy)im sure others lists will vary, but i wanted to be well prepared( im a little ocd lol)i know with the shakes they can taste different whether you mix them with milk or water, in a blender or shaker bottle, plus the air in them will differ making the more or less gassy/filling.
ok, i think i rambled there, sorry. lol hope this helps

Wow Niki, I think you thought of everything.

I bought a pill crusher for after surgery. I have always had a hard time swallowing pills so it was a bit of a lifesaver for me. I used a magic bullet to mix my shakes but I think the ninja would have been a better choice. And I forgot how much I used my food processor until Niki did mention it. It was a good investment and I still use it.
