I have a surgery date!!
It finally came....the letter saying I have a surgery date of May 15, 2012. The letter I looked forward to and kind of came to dread a bit. I am feeling much more confident in my decision to go ahead with the surgery now that I have had a chance to talk with someone face to face who has been through it. So I am busy planning, reading, exercising, watching my diet and trying to clean up my house. Sound crazy??? I keep thinking that if I don't get my house cleaned up and better organized I am going to try to spend my recovery time stressing about it all or worse trying to do more than I should. I sort of equate it to an expectant mom to be organizing and preparing for the new baby....nesting syndrome...hmmmm maybe? Well I am expecting .....expecting great things and a new lease on life post surgery! :-)
I think that was about the 3rd week of January 2012. I was really torn between sleeve and bypass and ended up with bypass because the surgery date was a month earlier and that worked into my schedule way better. ( probably not a good reason but it worked out for me )
I met with Dr. Vergis and was disappointed that she was going to be off on mat leave for my surgery but I heard that she is coming in to assist on my surgery anyway! Have not met any of the other surgeons.

From the time my Dr. referred me it took 6-8 months to hear back from the program. Then is was a few more months to go to the group orientation. After that it has all happened pretty quick. Met the surgeon in January, then some tests, met with my GP again for physical, xrays, bloodwork, EKG. Barium Swallow test in Feb. Phsychologist in March. Just got my surgery date and see dietician in another week.
