6 months

I can't believe I am already past the 6 month mark. I remember back when I was so anxious to get amy surgery date and the hurdles I had to climb to get there. Although I have found that I am not a very fast loser according to Laura I am losing at the pace she prefers at about 2 lbs a week. I saw Laura on Thursday and she weighed me at 171lbs. The surgeons goal is 170. Today when I stepped on the scale it read 169.2. I haven't seen such low numbers in years. Slow or not I'm feeling excited about the loss, now onto reaching my goal....  Laura also said my bloodwork from December looked good except my liver enzymes are low. She's not too sure what that means so I'll wait to see what Dr. Andrew says at my appt on the 28th.

Congratulations!  Losing 77 lb in six months sounds pretty great to me.

I'm glad to hear someone else is a "slow loser".  I was getting a little discouraged, being five weeks out from VSG and having lost only 15 lb.  On the other hand, I'm hoping the slow loss will give more time for my skin to shrink so I might end up with less loose skin.  Are you finding that's the case?

Thank-you! After updating my ticker I am down 82lbs but that includes pre-surgery too. I am down 56lbs in the 6 months since surgery, not as fast as I thought it would go but as long as it keeps coming off I'm thrilled. My pcp told me that slower is better but I guess I'm impatient. I do not find that I have as much skin as some but I have already had a nasty rash in the folds on my stomach. I can see a tuck somewhere in the future. My arms were never big so they won't be a problem. On the other hand I will definitely need to save for a boob job. They've almost disappeared and in another 30 lbs were they may be inverted.

I posted this on another thread somewhere today, but not sure which one.

My doctor many years ago suggested Barriere Cream in skin folds to prevent rashes.  I used to get yeast infections below my breasts (had a breast reduction 11 years ago, so that's not an issue any more).  It worked like a charm.  It's made for babies' bums, but it's not thick and goopy like a zinc cream.  It's getting hard to find (my husband uses it, so we still shop for it), but they sell it at Costco behind the counter at the pharmacy and in a few other smaller drugstores.  It comes in a pink and white tube.  It must not have been a big seller because WalMart and Shoppers both stopped selling it.

Thank-you! I do know the cream, I used it on my kids when they were babies. I also used A&D barrier cream that I did find worked better. I have been able to find that one in Grand Forks so I bought a few tubes and guess I'll have to start using it.
