Does Manitoba still do the RNY surgery and revisions for failed surgeries?  If so do I go to my regular doctor for a referral?

Has anyone else had a failed RNY?

I honestly dont know as I am fairly new to this whole idea..but if you dont mind my asking, how do you know its failed? And would they just redo it to fix the problem?

My present  doctor said the RNY had filed because I have regained 110 lbs.  I had lost 162 lbs in one year (1985), so the doctor that did the RNY reversed it (modified) the RNY. I began gaining weight in 1990 shortly after going through the worst adominal pain ever. I thought it was just a flu, after a few days the pain went away.

Prior to the abdominal pain starting  I actually heard a ripping noise from my abdomen (staples pulling apart??).   In hindsight I should have gone to the emergency....back then I was not savy to the internet  lol.  Today people click on a symptom finder and know when something is serious and should go to the hospital.

Also, having a RNY was a 'do not talk subject' .  Today most people are enlightened to WLS, in the 80's it was a  hush hush...embarassing subject.

The surgeons at the St. Boniface Clinic do RNY surgery. They would be qualified to do a revision but I don't know if they have had to do that for any patients here yet, as the program is only 2 years old.
