Good for you!  I'm only down about 6 lb since surgery.  All the rest of the weight I lost before-hand. They warned me to expect that, though. When I got home, I was the same weight as when I left (surgery Monday, home Friday). It seems to be going down about 1 lb a day now.

I will be REALLY glad when I can start to eat food again! What's your schedule for that? I can go on soft food in a week, two weeks of that, then advance to solid foods as I can tolerate them. I can see I'm going to have trouble getting in enough protein, though.  These protein shakes are beginning to get really old.

Hope you're feeling much better!

Oh not worry your weight will soon fly off. I am on soft mushy well blended semi solids and in about 2 weeks I get MEAT... lips smacking drool .. oops sorry got so sloppy LOL. Protein shakes.. ugh I cannot stand the smell of them now!  I actually am using glucerna with powder milk added for protein and add Beneprotien to my other food.

Not to worry...I know all about the drool effect!!!  I find myself lying in bed at night thinking of food I can't have and drooling!  My hubby is thankfully cooking all his own meals, but the smell is driving me crazy, not to mention all the food commercials on TV.  Everything I watch is recorded on the PVR, but even on fast forward I can still see them.  Sigh.

At OCC, the diet is clear fluids for about four days, then full fluids (drinkable yogurt, cream soups) for two weeks.  I don't get to have soft mushy stuff for another week yet.  I suspect I'm not going to hold out, especially now that I know your diet already includes soft mushy stuff.  I can't  figure out why every facility has different postop diet instructions.  Being able to have meat starts at the same time for both of us, though.  Can hardly wait.

I am going to investigate Beneprotein.  I've never heard of it until now.  (I've just found it online.) It will be on my shopping list for tomorrow.  Thanks for mentioning it!  I have a sample of a protein powder (Strive Pro-Isl Ultra -- made in Canada even) that has 45 g of protein in a serving, so  I'm going to get some of that, too. I can get down one protein drink, but that's about it.  Between those two things, hopefully I will be able to get in enough protein every day.

It's called Resource Beneprotein and ask pharmacist if they can order it for you. Mine will and check out shoppers drug mart and dont be afraid to get a lil pushy with them as some can be lazy not willing to look into it

Love reading the posts of you two.  I've done so much reading and research but now that the time is coming so near it's nice to hear from people who've had surgery recently.   I'm about two weeks behind you both, having VSG in 4 days.  Glad to hear that both of you are doing so well.
