Hi.  This probably has already been asked, but im having computer issues. So i cant scan too far back.

Can someone please let me know what i need to do to get my surgery considered for another province?  Who do I call?

If someone could please point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated!

Ok do you have an idea of where to go because if you do then if you haven't already have your gp send a referral to the surgeon and then to mb health out of province claims to get coverage

I phoned the clinic in Regina and asked what my Dr needed to do, got fax numbers etc and then passed them along to my Dr. I then phoned to check that they got info from Dr after a few weeks.

I had previously been referred to Edmonton so I need to look into whether my Dr has to reappy to Manitob health for a different clinic.

Thank you for that info!

After many phone calls, it appears the wait time out of province is just as bad, if not longer than Winnipeg.

Unless I have $15,000 in my pocket.

sigh...

Hello,
I see others have answered your question about the out of province process.  In 2008 when I had my surgery there were no surgeons here in MB so I had to go out of province.  MB Health covered my cost to fly to Alberta 2 times, to see the surgeon and have the surgery.  I actually had to wait 3-4 yrs for my appt at that time.  I think it is so great that MB has surgeons now that can do the surgery.  It is a little frightening to fly out of province for surgery, your family is not around, if you have complications what would you do?  I accepted that at the time.  Some individuals are still going out of province.   It is a personal decision to make about the type of surgery, where you should go, etc.  All the best.
