time off work after surgery
Hi,
I took off about 3 1/2 weeks...but I only work half time as a teacher. I found it was long enough, but I really took it easy for my first few weeks back to work. I didn't have any complications and was able to have enough energy. I also have 2 toddlers at home, so I made sure to have some help for at least 2 weeks after surgery. I was able to pick them up and carry them around, about 4 weeks out.
Some people are able to go back for a few hours after only 1-2 weeks...it all depends.

I'm thinking at least a month for me. I'm a home care nurse and while my job isn't as physical as working in a hospital it does require a lot of bending , and moving around a lot - some lifting and getting into weird positions for dressing changes. I don't have a ton of sick time banked since I had to
Use a fair bit when I broke my toe and screwed up my neck in a car accident - I figure I should have some overtime and vacation banked as well as I can always use ei if i need to.
