     I called a week ago, got my appt with Dr.Vergis for the next week. I could get the surgery done in 3 weeks, but I decided myself to wait until February because I will be off school for a week and will use that week to recover and get used to the band. Lucian, the girl I have been dealing with at maples surgical center, told me that it can be done as soon as 3 weeks. 2 weeks of that is for the pre op diet. Are you thinking about getting it?

How did you get in so quickly?  Their answering machine says it's at least a 12 month wait from the referal.

I'm not sure what option works best for me, but it's nice to see there are different options.  2 of at this clinic, by the sounds of it.

Did you just call yourself? or was refered and waited a year?

 At maples surgical centre its a private clinic which is completely self pay 15K. This is not covered by MB health hence the quick surgery date.  The lapband is only covered by MB health in Edmonton, AB and only if its in a public hospital no private clinics.

I'm confused. I thought Dr. Vergis was at St. Boniface?

 Sorry don't mean too. Yes he is part of the team for the public pilot program at St B surgical associates. He is also at the Maples surgical ctr. which is a private clinic. That 's where you get lapband in winnipeg but you must pay for it as lapband is not a covered by MB health. Its only cover it in Edmonton, ab.
