Hello Wanda and all the other new comers! It is awesome to see so many new faces on our board

HI.  I'm new here.

I hear everyone talking about Dr. Vergis.  I can't find him/her in the Wpg phone book or the internet.  Other than an Ashley Vergis at the U of M.

Does this doctor still do this surgery? Do I have to be refered to by my general doctor?  Cause he believes no one in Winnipeg does this surgery or that it's covered under Manitoba Medical.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, everyone is so nice and helpful here.

To answer your question you have to be referred to the Clinic by your GP.  There is a certain criteria that you have to meet for the Bariatric surgery.  Only 2 types of surgeries are covered during this pilot project.
