But definitely stick to the forums for advice - especially post op as there seems to be a bit of a NUT delay/availability for advice.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind & will probably take you up on your offer to meet. When you say "night" shift, do you mean really night, like you start at 11:00 p.m. or something?  How long ago did you have your surgery? Just curious to know what you tell your co-workers about your weight loss?!?! I figure once I have the surgery and start losing, I'll tell anyone who asks that I had the surgery.

Hi Dianne,

Just wanted to give you my story. I too had a referral for the VSG surgery here in Winnipeg. The wait was 10 months long at the time. Each month my health was getting worse and I was gaining even more weight.
I started looking into Mexico for surgery. My husband and I decided that my health was not worth the wait. I booked my surgery with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali and used points for the airfare for hubby and I.

I had surgery within 3 weeks of researching on March 29th. To date I have lost 103 pounds gone from 267 to 164 a size 20 to a size 8 pant and XXL top to a medium only 29 more pounds to go!

My Mexican experience was nothing short of amazing and Dr. Aceves makes a nice tight sleeve. I do not regret paying and going to Mexico one bit. Good luck with your decision.

Wow!! That is phenomenal! Less than 8 months?!?!?! That's the kind of success story I want to be! You must feel amazing.

Thanks so much for sharing your story. I had chosen a different facility (in Tijuana), but presumably all the surgeons are doing the surgery much the same. (Just out of curiosity, I've just sent an e-mail through Dr. Aceves's website for information, too.)

I have enough Air Miles for the flight, too, so it's just the extra "add ons" that will cost actual money for that.

I'm curious to know if you (or anybody else reading this post who went to Mexico) bought extra medical insurance when you went?  (I decided to create a separate post with this question.)
