Nice to meet you Sondra...thank you for responding...i've been watching peoples journeys on you tube and have so many questions. Like for the ones who have already had the surgery...are you taking biotin for hair loss?
How long did you stay in hospital? how long after were you feeling well? i'm so overwhelmed sometimes with information and yet feel like i'm in the dark with none..lol

i personally stayed in the hosp for 2 days then i had to stay at hotel as i live out of city.yes i am taking biotin but am not sure if its working.i was feeling better about a week later.i was fianlly able to sleep in my own bed about 10 days out.you will be tired for the first while after so nap when you can.i was lucky i was able to take a month off then it was summer holidays so i really had 3 months off.just take your time and you will get it.also feel free to post any queation on here.the vets are quick to answer any questions we have.,

when did you have your surgery?  I first seen my surgeon in January, I had to quit smoking before anything...so i did and then i gained some weight...in May he told me i had to take off the extra weight from quitting smoking..then my husband had a heart attack, my oldest son went to Portugal for holidays, we went away to try to keep my husband busy, and the summer went on and on and so did the weight...my highest was 352, sept 19th i started working out at the gym and am now down to 335..i'm hoping to work off another 15lbs before i get to see my surgeon December 1st for a follow up which i'm hoping at that point he'll say we're good to go and get my surgery date!  The dietician says it takes up to 12 weeks to be back at solids..is that how it was for you?

Welcome to the site!  It sounds like you have had a crazy year, here's hoping that it's all good from here!   Do you mind my asking what your BMI is and are you from MB?  It sounds like you have been doing fantastic work, keep it up.  I am so hoping that I don;t have alot of hoops to go through when I finally see the surgeons.  I get the psych eval, the NUT and of course the surgeons but I hope everything  I have is okay.  Sounds like you have had the long route.  Hope it is all smooth sailing from here!!!

take care

Hi NGD!! nice to meet you..

It has been a long year!! I am from Manitoba, I live in Winnipeg.. My BMI was or is 51..i'm hoping to get it down to 48-47 for december 1. The way i calculated it I have to get down another 15lbs and all should line up nicely!! What is the average BMI that everyone had when they started the pre-op optifast? Have you seen a surgeon at all or just been referred? I see Dr.Vergis at St.Boniface Surgical Associates. He's a super nice guy! anyone heard of him??

I had my surgery May 26th, and am down 60 pounds.
I was one of the few who had complications, so I was in the hospital longer 9 days, I feel great now and am so thankful for the surgery, and would do it again.
