Tomorrow is a brand new start at a new life!

I can hardly believe that my two weeks have come to an end and tomorrow I will be joining the loser's bench. I had lost upwards of 18lbs but the scale is still my enemy. I think I have now settled at a 10lb loss. We'll see what the final day brings.

The last 2 weeks I have had good days and some were more difficult. I have marched in 2 parades, volunteered at a bingo where I was running around and did a big shopping trip with lots and lots of walking. Those days were extremely difficult and I found myself very hungry. The days that I spent at home were quite easy and I was lucky if I managed to get in 2 shakes. I still have more 2 full boxes of vanilla left over. I would definitely recommend to anyone else doing this diet to order the bars too, I certainly wish I had.

My last meal today is now cooking. I will finish the diet with turnip and mushrooms and one last chocolate shake. I will start my fast at midnight but hopefully I am in bed by then as my ride will be here to pick me up at 7am. I will be at the hospital at least an hour early as my neighbor has to be at work for 9.

What should I expect when I get to the hospital? I am to arrive at 8:45am and surgery is 10:45.

Now I think I need to finish packing!

I think every hospital is different, but at mine, they took me into a pre-op room and had me change into the hospital gown and booties.  They then weighed me and had me give a urine sample.  I went back to my bed and the anesthesiologist came in and chatted with me for a few minutes, reviewing my medical history.  He started 2 iv's, one in each hand, and said he would be back in a little bit.  The nurse then came in and started me on an iv antibiotic that was in addition to the saline iv.  A few minutes later, the surgeon came in, advised me of the risks involved, I signed a waiver, and they wheeled me off to the operating room.  Once there, they had me get on the operating table and the anesthesiologist put an oxygen mask over my face.  The next thing I remember I was in a bed on the main floor.

Hey Deb,

Good luck to you tomorrow.  I'm sure you're anxious with anticipation as well as somewhat scared of the unknown.  I sure as heck know I'll be feeling that way.   You're gonna do great!
