preop assessment
Hey girls,
I received my official letter from the hospital with instructions for surgery day and a few hours later, I got my call for my preop assessment at the Vic!
Can somebody please tell me what to expect at this appointment? Who do I talk to and do I need to have any tests?
Thanks a lot!
Also...I start my diet NEXT MONDAY!!! So I have 2 weekends left....I'm trying not to binge like crazy but yesterday night my hubby asked if I wanted eggs or pizza for dinner...DUH!!! PIZZA!!! Every time I eat, I think, "This may be the last time I eat this in a long time!" But good riddance right?
Off to the lake for the weekend for one last horrah before school starts on Tues.

When you go for your pre-op you'll first go to admitting where they check all your info and give you your pretty bracelet to wear. They'll make it loose because you'll need it surgery day too. From their you will go downstairs. They'll give you a map. You'll meet Dr Young the anesthesiologist. He's very nice and will explain a lot. Then you will meet with a nurse who will talk with you and write your meds down. She'll then send you for bloodwork. The whole process takes about 2 hours. It's pretty simple! I'm so excited for you! It will all go so fast now!

If I could go back to pre-op my last dinner would have been Chinese food, something I miss so much now.
So excited for you. I never had to do the preop diet, so not sure what is expected of you.
This biggest horrahs are yet to come.

YAHOO! How exciting for you! I was there the entire 2 hours. Be prepared to be there then entire time.
Enjoy the food- it's going to be a while till you get to have it!
Although i must admit, i really did not mind the 'slimtrim' (or whatever it was called) vanilla flavour. I added a bit of SF pistachio or cheesecake jello powder once in a while to it.
And i LOVED the meditrim peanut butter bars. I also loved the way i felt on the fast for the most part. Yes, there were hungy days, but there was also some really good days.

Thank you for the good wishes! The pre-op diet is going alright, I guess. certainly a big change from what I was used to!! Watching the Bomber game was kinda tough - not only did they lose but I couldn't snack! LOL!
You might laugh at this but I almost came up to say Hi to you when you were in hospital. I work there and did your cardiogram when you were in recovery. Probably not a good time to introduce myself and an invasion of your privacy!!
I hope you're recovering all right. How is it? I hope your pain is gone and you're learning about life on the losing side! Best of Luck and thanks again
