Need Advice on Day 5 Post-Op!

Hey everyone!

I'm now 5 days post-op and i'm feeling SO much better.
Even had a job interview today! (i passed out in bed after though from exhaustion - haha)

BUT when the surgeon said i would never feel hunger again, he lied.
I really am hungry.

I have no idea if I am getting enough in my system.
I can maybe get down 1 bottle of water w Crystal Lite in it.
And 1/2 a Costco shake before it hurts to ingest more.

Should I be eating more?
Would trying soup or something make a difference?
Or does the uncomfortable feeling mean I'm not ready?

I keep reading the book the NUT gave me, but I really trust all of your hands-on experience more.

I guess I'm just starting to worry that I won't ever know how MUCH I can eat, how much I actually am eating and what is ok for me to eat!
Did anyone else panic about that at this stage?

I also need to buy a scale.
I keep freaking out that I have gained weight because of the swelling.
Crazy how our minds work.

ANY advice would be appreciated.
Can't tell you how much better I feel knowing there are people who know what's going on!!!

xoxo

Glad your feeling better, don't panic about the hunger pains. Some people get them and I was one of them. I read on the forum that it can last for a few weeks then should go away.
As I started to get my protein in they went away at about week 4.

Just keep getting your fluids and protein in as much as you can.

Try not to get on the scale for a few weeks, give your body a chance to get the IV fluids out and the swelling to go down.

I was one of those who would step on the scale morning noon and night. I have been at the lake for most of the summer without a scale and it has been the best thing for me. I am going to try when I get back to weigh myself once a week, I will get my kids to hide the scale, lol.

My advice to you is to not weigh yourself too often.  It becomes an addiction/obsession after awhile and it really affirms bad energy and anxiety.  Another piece of advice is take is very slowly with advancing your diet. I learned the hard way.  Stick to the diet that the NUT recommended, though it can become monotonous and blah.  Get your fluids in first for the first couple of weeks.
Best of luck.
