Day 2 of 14 day Pre-Op Diet

Well...I'm on day TWO of the pre-op diet.

Am I starving?  No. but I can see that it's in my near future. :)

Yesterday I had chocolate shakes and one of the bars.

I don't think I bought enough of the bars, they are very good & filling.

But for breakfast this morning, I added cinnamon to a vanilla shake and that made it actually very yummy so I plan on doing that quite often.  Also, adding ice really made a difference then just having the shake on it's own.

I also recommend a very good shaker/blending cup as the grainy nature of the Medi-shakes can really make you want to puke.  I swear by Usana, and so I got one of our blender cups and I LOVE it. It has the little ball inside that gets everything good & blended.

I am also living off of Powerade Zero and diet pop.
Might try the adding Crystal Light to a shake later today.

Crazy how much I crave food already though.
And my poor hubby - he warns me or asks my persmission before he eats anything.

Just wondering what you are choosing to eat for your two cups of veggies each day?  I found that if I chose my favourites  (cherry tomatoes and cucumbers) and cut them into small bites it felt more satisfying than just the shake.  Give it a try.  Good luck!  The two weeks is over before you know it!

I am finding that broccoli & beans with garlic powder & basil in the microwave are my favorite so far.

but today i did cucumbers with vinager and pepper and that was yummy too.

and i think tomorrow will be peppers and tomatoes. :)  i totally agree with you - small bites is awesome and those 2 cups of veggies are the highlight of my day. :)

i think i have my schedule down.

1 shake in the morning
1 Powerade Zero and 1/2 of a bar at lunch
Diet Pop/Powerade Zero during the afternoon
2 cups veggies & 1/2 bar for supper
1 shake early evening

That's what it is so far. :)

any other recommendations, i'd love them. :) :)

Sounds like you are doing great :)    I would put some decafe instant coffee into my vanilla shakes to give it a different taste.  I found that mushrooms were a good filler food too.

May I make a suggestion? Are you drinking pop that had caffeine in it? Caffeine will give you withdrawal symptoms that will be a ***** to go through after surgery. After a couple of days on the pre-op I got pains in my kidney area and as soon as I stopped drinking coke zero they went away. I also had to deal with the headaches and body aches from the caffeine withdrawals. I am sure glad that I licked that issue before surgery rather than having to deal with it on top on surgery discomfort.

Good luck with everything and next thing you know you will be waking up in the recovery room.

I found having stir frys really helped (with mrs dash & soy sauce). I rationalized the 2 cups of cooked stir fry veggies slightly squished into a measuring cup as my daily total

I've found I can't eat veggies yet still...it's like it gets stuck?

haha - i FOR SURE squish veggies into those cups!! :)
and yes, stir fry has been saving my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i had a tossed salad today & felt like it was a total waste of my veggies.
won't be doing that again any time soon!! :)

and Michelle - i hadn't even THOUGHT of the withdrawl.
well, i had THOUGHT about it, because i'm addicted.
so i thought of it in regards to quitting AFTER surgery, but you are very right.
Would be much easier to deal with that NOW.

i SOOOOO appreciate all of your advice, please keep it coming! :)
