Hi Everyone - thanks for the good wishes!

Went in on Monday a.m. and was released on Wednesday A.M. - Tuesday was a really rough day - couldn't stand for long without blacking out and had numerous gas pains in my chest and shoulder areas from the gas used during surgery.

I was better on Wednesday, and went to my parents - slept most of the day.  More mobile today.  Just trying to get my fluids in - been drinking protein shakes, water, jello, broth and popsicles so far.

Was a lttle surprised to see the scale had gone up 6 lbs - hopefully only due to swelling and lack of bowel movements.  Will see next week.

Hopefully each day will get easier.  Will keep you posted.

You had an RNY and was home in 3 days!  Wow that was fast.  On day 3 was when they took the tube out of my nose and was the first day I even got to try any type of liquid!

I am at almost 4 months now, and it seams like a lifetime ago.  Over the next few weeks it may be rough but just remember it does get better.  You may never want to eat jello again, but it does get better, lol.

Walk lots, I did not and had a serous gas backup that caused me hours of non stop heaving, I learned my lesson and started to walk walk and walk some more.  Even if you dont feel like it, get up and take even a 5 minute walk every couple of hours.  Your life will be so much more pleasant if you dont get backed up.

I did not move my bowels for about 3 weeks after my surgery, my doctor said that was normal.  I still am not all that regular, I am lucky if i go once a week now but again I was told that was normal.  Where did you get your surgery done?

Good luck, and if you have any questions just ask.   OH, and I had weightgain when I got home as well, that is from all of the fluid you get from the IV.  It will go down:)  Welcome to the losers bench.

Ahhh - that makes sense - they even had to up my IV flow as I had to be catheterized temporarily.

Well, I think things are going well - my bowels are already starting to function and I will take your advice about the walking.  My little girl wants to get outside anyway.

My surgery was done at the Victoria Hospital - very nice nurses and aides and it was good to meet DRs Vergis and Andrews who ended up doing the surgery in the end.  I had only met Dr. Hardy up till then.

I am sure all that IV fluid will come out soon enough! So happy for you, sounds like things went well for you!  I wish you rapid healing! Keep us posted during your recovery period.

Congratulations! Dont' worry about the scale. My weight didn't move for over a week after surgery. The pounds start melting off after that though!

Take Care,
Tanya
