I am in need of desperate help . I am 6 weeks out from RNY surgery . I am unable to get my water and protein amounts in at all . I feel sick to my stomach , when I try And My concern is I am so very weak and dizzy an all round sick feeling daily . I ended up in emergency last week But not St Boniface . my family Dr. sent me there by Ambulance from her office as my BP was dropping so low then shooting back up . I continued to do that for 2 days being hooked up to monitors in ER for the whole time Till I said I wanted to go home , The er Dr. then agreed as long as I was going to be seeing my dr. and Surgeon which I will be on tues. then Dr, hardy Wed . I was wondering if any of you ladies went through this and if so how long does it last . I am on PB pills but the E>R> dr. told me to stop them Which I thought was strange. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thank-you all

It is surprising that the hospital released you if your blood pressure wasn't stable, though I completely get wanting to be back home in your own bed. I hope you get some answers tomorrow.

It took me over a month before I could get my full fluids in, I just couldn't tolerate much at once. I found tha****ered down Gatorade helped, as well as cup-o-soup. It takes a while to be able to tolerate all the protein as well. Many people use protein shakes to help them get their daily requirments. I just waited until I could tolerate more protein rich foods. Now, I can get my protein from food alone, but it took me some time.

My physician prescribed me Maxoram for my nausea. I only needed to be on it for a few days because once I was no longer as nauseous, I could take in more fluids which seemed to be the cause of the problem in the first place. After that, I used extended release Gravol to keep the nausea at bay.

I hope that the doctors can help solve this problem quickly.
Take care of yourself & sip as much as you can!

Tanya

Thank-you  Tanya   I was released only because I told them I had two Dr. appts this week with assurance I would be able to get there .  I will ask about getting something for my sick feeling and like you I,m sure that will help me to get on my way . And I will try the watered down gator aid' I know I was very dehydtated as well , The dr, even opened up the iV and let it run though just to get me started ..  A note for all you new gals like Tanya says we need to keep sipping , I was so weak that even getting up for water or a drink was so diffucult as I was so dizzy . Many thanks  Lyn

I am so sorry to hear what you,ve gone through , With sharing our experiences it sure helps to see we are not alone in it when times are rough.  I continue to read all old and new posts and it helps to see how happy and well the girls are doing with there surgery and it once again gives me hope .  I guess for now we take it day by day and before we know it our rough times will have past.  All the very best to you and thank-you for sharing ,   Lyn
