Surgery Date Finally

Well, my surgery date is for Sept 12th! I was hoping however, it would be sooner. I had my consult May 6th, but, I could not see the dietitian till yesterday. I did  not realize that I had to get a barium swallow as well and I have to wait for 2 weeks for that. I live out of town so it is a little harder to get to the city to get these things done.

I was told they want me off work for at least a month. Does anyone have blue cross from work and if so would they cover this?

Your surgery should be covered under your short term disability plan.

Congratulations on your surgery date. I don't have a surgery date yet but was told it would be around Sept. Being off work all summer I too was hoping for a sooner date. I don't have blue cross but will be covered by EI. EI offers sick benefits up to 16 weeks. There is however a 2 week waiting period.

That is SO exciting!!

Congrats on getting a surgery date!!

And as for the barium swallow - I've been waiting 7 weeks already with NO call from the hospital. Dr. Andrew's assistant said she was going to bug them to get going. I really don't want to have to hold up my surgery for that swallow!!

I saw Dr Vergis on June 3rd and I had my barium swallow less than 3 weeks later at the Vic. Not sure how they book their appts but I do have current digestive problems. I have been told I should be having surgery around Sept but don't have a surgery date yet.
