Today's appointment

Well, today went extremely well. I met with Dr. Vergis and I must say, he is incredibly nice and so encouraging!
We've decided to go with RNY....I went in there thinking that I'd do the 'sleeve' but changed my mind. My BMI is 39 and I want to lose about 80 -100 pounds. He said the RNY has a little bit of higher success rate for taking off more weight over a longer period of time... plus I like the idea of malabsorption.
I did all my paperwork/survey/preassesment and blood work at the office, and booked my pre-op with my family doctor for July 4th! My psych evaluation (which is now mandatory) is on July 7th! The only problem is...I can't get into see Laura until August 14th !! Dr. Vergis said that her schedule was the only thing keeping me from having the surgery earlier. BOO HOO!!! 
I was really hoping to get it done this summer but doesn't look likely. HE did say that they are trying to get 2 more dietician's trained and funded and that if there is a cancellation or an earlier opening, I'll get a call.
I am praying and hoping that Laura has some earlier openings. I could essentially get this done by mid-end July if she does.

I am happy that your appointment was successful I hope they hire another dietitian soon.

Glad to hear the appointment went well and they're trying to deal with the NUT situation.  I've been leaning toward RNY too but want to wait until my consult until deciding for sure.  Hopefully you'll have a surgery date sooner rather than later :)
