What does everyone do for exercise?

As I impatiently wait for things to come together for my surgey I am starting to plan my exercise routine for after. Since my first consult in January I have joined the YMCA. I started with 45 minutes of Aquasizes 2x's a week. I didn't want to put myself into a bad Fibro Flare by adding too much too soon. I then moved up to 1/2 hour on  the treadmill and 45 minute aquasizes 2x's a week. The Fibro makes me so tired that when I get home from work the last thing I want to do is exercise. My 15 yr old daughter is my driving force as she loves going. It was a good thing to get a family membership. :)

After being disappointed with myself after seeing Dr. Vergis in April I took some time off work. As he now wanted me to lose 13lbs in the next six weeks I started going to the Y 4-5x's a week; doing double aquasize classes when I could or treadmill and then aquasizes.  I also have been talking my dog along with me when I go out and often will stop and go for a walk in a park. If he gets out of his harness we go for a run!

What does everyone else do post surgery for exercise? Does anyone else frequent the Y? Anyone else try the aquasizes? I know when I get back to work that I will be tired again and need to find a program that I know I can stay committed too! If anyone else goes to the South Y I would love to find an exercise buddy! That way I can't say no!

I am now to go to Zumba for one hour, three times a week.  I also ride bike, walk and might start to run soon.  I actually LOVE exercise since I am able to do it!  I am lovin this sleeve!

I am patiently waiting for my consultation which is scheduled for July 8th.  It can't come quick enough.  Have been exercising for a while now trying to lose weight but sometimes lose modivation and have a few road bumps in the personal life in the last few months that have kept me from going.  I now have been working with a personal trainer and it really helps me keep modivated and on track.

Don't frequent the South Y but live in the south end of the city and am always up for walks etc.

I have a 3 acre yard and have been push mowing it since spring. I walk, run up and down my stairs to do laundry. Up the basement stairs and out to the clothes line to hang things out instead of using the dryer because it's there. Park my car the farthest spot from a store. Use stairs instead of elevators. I think differently now, because exercise makes me feel so great and I want to lose weight. You can make anything into exercise if you see it that way. I get a great work out with out having to go to the gym. I live in the country so going into the city every day to work out doesn't appeal to me at this time of the year. All the best to you and good luck! ~Cheryl

Thanks for the ideas. I also live out in the country. I don't mind the drive in if I'm not working but when working I force myself to go a few evenings a week. The gas prices are a bit much though. I also walk my dog everyday and now that it is warm we are driving to a nearby park for a change of scenery. I also have a lot of acreage to mow but with my Fibromyalgia I get a lot of pain and muscle spasms in my arms from the vibrations of a push mower. My riding mower isn't working right now so I borrowed a push mower and have been suffering. I finally got my son out there to work on it. In fact he is out there right now. With my Fibro I have to be very careful that I don't over do it or put to much strain on my muscles or I'll be off my feet for at least a week. This is why I love the aquasizes. I love walking on the days my legs are good. I too park further away when shopping on good days.. I may try bike riding again, I used to love it! I don't know if running will every be an option! Charlene I may take you up on that walk during the summer.  I've also heard some good things from others I know about Zumba; I may have to try that too. I need to become as addicted to exercise as I am to Facebook. Lol!
