Welcome Newfie99999. I am from Newfoundland as well. I live here in MB for the past 8 years. I had the VSG surery Feb 14. I have lost 55+ lbs so far. What an amazing journey. I am very thankful for having opportunity to have the surgery. I stayed in the hospital for 2 days. No immediate complications post op. Had some issues with acid refux but is now on the perfect combination of medications to keep that acid under control. No regrets! I feel awesome.
We have monthly meet and greets in the city. Everyone is welcome. You should keep reading the forum to see when the next date is. The more the merrier. Sharing experiences has been very good for me, we are all in the same boat afterall!

For the pre-op surgery, you have to buy MediTrim products. The shakes are ok. (Most people like the vanilla, but I found it too perfumy for my taste.) The peanut bar is pretty good, but the chocolate one is terrible! I couldn't swallow one bit of it!
If you don't have any complications, you will only spend 2 nights in the hospital. If you do have complications, it could be a week. Plan to take a full month off work if you can. You need to treat yourself with kid gloves after the surgery.
Good luck!
