Still waiting
Lisa so glad you are doing well.
Cheryl hope you are managing okay as well.
I've been checking in to read everyone's posts, but haven't felt much like talking. Saw the Dr today and we talked again about WLS. He is very supportive of my choice to do this and we talked about options other than Winnipeg as I don't qualify with my BMI. He is going to look into MEdicine Hat and I promised to keep trying to lose the 40 lbs so I qualify for Winnipeg. 5 down, 35 to go.....
We also talked about the stress in my life right now. I think those of you that have been on have heard me mention that my son in special needs(blind, epileptic anad autistic) and he requires 24 hour care and supervision. I love him but we are revising his meds right now and he talks non stop all day and all his tics have come back. On top of that my husband has struggled with bad health the last few years and is now slated for a hip replacement. His pain is so bad it is all he can do to work so when he is home he is sleeping etc. I have felt very overwhelmed as my workload increases as he can't do something and I am either crying or angry and soooo tired. So the week after spring break when my boy is at school I will be on stress leave so I can have some time to myself. I'm hoping this will help me relax a bit and not get so worked up about things. I am feeling guilty about the leave but I know I need to take care of myself so I can be here for both of my guys.
Thanks for listening and everyone keep up the good work. You give me hope !

Karen,
You are a very strong person. Keep up the strength.
I didn't have my surgery in WPG I had it in Red Deer. The DR there insisted that I go on a special diet and it really worked, I lost 60 lbs in 4 months. The diet consists of 1 cup of food 3 X a day. The only restriction is no chocolate and no cheese. You can eat all the lettuce and spinach you like. A tool he had me use to keep track was journalizing everything I ate. 1 cup of food doesn't sound like much, but it is enough to keep you satisfied. I ate a lot of Romaie lettuce as snacks, I would grab a piece and put a little Mrs dash on it and chomp away. For dinners I would cut up a whole bunch of romain lettuce and either a 1/2 cup of chicken or 1/2 cup of chilli or any other type of meat and then I would still be able to have a piece of toast with my meal.
Also remember to drink lots of water, it helps flush the food out of your system.
Good luck, and stay strong.
Lori

Lori, thanks for the suggestion, I think this is something I can try while at home during spring break and the week of a leave when I don't have to worry about running around at work.
I drink lots of water as I can't drink milk, don't really like coffee and limit myself to 1 maybe 2 diet cokes a day. I am trying to drink tea as well. I use sparkpeople to keep track of my food and exercise - it is really a great site and lots of information about living healthy.
Sista - thank you as well. I know I need to take care of me, it's just in my nature to help people first. I will be a much better careprovider for my son and my husband will he is recovering if I am in a good place emotionally.
Things will get better, Brian will hopefully be able to live a happier life after surgery and my boy is going to see the psychiatrist during the break. Even the school is finding him a bit much these days. The Dr said she has a new med to try to help with the tics, it just takes time.
Have a nice night and thanks for your support.

Wow Karen, you have a lot on your plate at the moment.
I am glad that you thought to take some time off work for yourself.
I hope that your son is able to get the help he needs and I hope your husband recovers easily from his surgery.
Hang in there.
I do believe that your time will come.
They won't have this BMI restriction forever.

Thank you everyone for the support. After a sleepless night worrying about taking a week of stress leave, I have come to terms that this in not a bad idea. I think after having my boy home for a week a few days by myself will be a godsend. If my income tax gets here, I might even go to Winnipeg and do some shopping and my Giselle's gift gertificate. I've always wanted a hot rock massage so maybe.....
Been trying to keep busy, you know it keeps us from eating and thinking. Got some kitchen cupboards cleaned out and rearranged so when I do a big grocery shopping in Aprpil I have space.
Cheryl and Lisa, glad to see you are both home and on the mend. Hope you get back to feeling 100% percent quickly. I think the thing I will miss the most when I have WLS will be my diet coke.
Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the sunshine - too bad it isn't warmer but I hear it is coming. Welcome Spring!
