Did any of you have to go for a pre-op visit the day before your surgery? They called me today. I have to go into Wpg next Monday morning 7:15AM no less! I live 2 hours from the city......The nurse said I have to go in for blood work and to see the anesthesiologist. Then Tues morning at 7:15AM is my surgery....I didn't realize this was going to happen.EEESH!

I'm not to sure what's going to transpire yet. I'm thinking I will leave home Monday morning at 5am to be there for my 7:15am appointment. Then I will likely just get a hotel across the road at the comfort Inn for Monday night. We're calving right now, so it's hard for my hubby to be to long from home. I think this will be the plan for now. But it could change between now and then....~Cheryl
I went in the Thursday before my surgery and surgery was on Tuesday. They do blood work...chat with you, very nice. The anathesioligist talks to you and they weigh you. Overall very pleasant experience. They are very nice. You can ask any questions you may have. They also put a band on you....arm or ankle. That's it.
I wish the clinic would remind people about the pre-op at the hospital. If it weren't for this forum, I wouldn't have known about it and wouldn't have been able to book off work in time.
It is really no big deal, but it can take a couple of hours. The nurse speaks to you and tells you about pain management. Then the anesthesiologist chats with you, and you are ready to go.
Yes, they also put a hospital bracelette on you. You can put it on your wrist or ankle, whichever you prefer.
Once you are tagged, that's it. It is a done deal!
Good luck!

Thanks for the info guys. I still haven't got my pre-op stuff in the mail from Julie yet. So it was a good thing the nurse called me. She had just got my info minutes before calling me. She said "I wanted to call right away because you live so far out to give you some notice about this appointment". Everything is cool! I have made tentative plans for now. Lisa I may even bump into you along the way. I'll be watching for you.~Cheryl
Hi Cheryl,
I had to call Julie for the pre-op stuff because I still needed something to present to work. The assessment was fine, I did lose a bit of weight on the pre-op diet, which is always nice to see, I just don't like being on a scale, it's so ingrained now lol. And, yes, I've been 'tagged', I am so not going to the Y with this on, I think i'll go buy something at walmart to cover it, maybe i should have had the nurse put it on my ankle...oh wells. :)
I'll probably 'run' into you at the hospital, since your surgery is the day after mine?

Hey Lisa? Did you not get a pre-op package in the mail either? I called Julie almost 2 weeks ago about some things and she told me she would be mailing out my package. Did the nurses at Victoria Hosp tell you not to take your vitamin's for a week prior surgery? The nurse told me I wasn't to be taking them for a week pre-op so I quit taking them yesterday. I really feel out to pasture here....Really uninformed of what I should be doing at this point. I'm not blaming Julie, I know she's up to her neck in paper work. Maybe they should be giving these packages to you at your last NUT meeting, then you have them. Wow you got hooked up with your tag pretty quick hey? That's kind of early, but hey whatever works right? I'm down 20lbs so far, with 4 days to go....We're doing this Lisa! Woooo!Hooo! And the end is in site now that's ~Cheryl
P.S I need to call Julie.....:)

Hey Cheryl, I was so not aware of the vitamin thing...guess I stop taking those as of tomorrow...already took today's, lol. Ya, the nurse gave me the option of wrist or ankle, and I didn't think it through I guess. I just figured the wrist one would annoy me less, but I forgot about it waving around for the whole world to see whenever I go to the Y. I don't need people thinking I escaped from the nut house or something
