Well I've survived my first week of Prue-op shakes. I'm feeling very tired, light headed, grouchy. This is not fun anymore! I think if I started to cry I wouldn't be able to stop. I feel like I've been pulled threw a 2" pipe! I've been positive about this whole thing up until tonight. Am I going to feel like this after I'm sleeved when I still can't eat? I don't like feeling out of control of my emotions, and right now I'm feeling pretty low. I've lost a large amount of weight in 6 days. I'm sure this is why I'm so weak and not well. I hate being a whiner and need to suck it up! Sorry! for laying this on you guys! ~Cheryl

Hi Cheryl;

Hang in there. You've just hit a wall.
The pre-op diet can be hell at times, especially on your emotions.
Remember to drink a lot of water, it does help a bit.
Also remember, you will NOT feel this way forever!

Once your sleeve is healed, you WILL be able to eat again, just in smaller portions.

Be proud of yourself, you are doing it!

Thinking of you,
Tanya

I am sorry you are feeling so rotten.  YOu are half way there.  YOu can do it!!! Get lots of rest, drink lots of water and don't be hard on yourself.  We have all been there and you will get through it.  Cry if you need to cry, you are going through tremendous change and it is better to go through all the emotions.  You are not a whiner.  That is why we are here, to support one another.
Here's to a better day!  God bless!

You can do this..it's not forever! it's only another week...then it's the beginning of the rest of your life! After surgery, you wont probably wont want to eat much anyways. The emotional aspect of this journey is sometimes a pain in the arse! BUT, that's what we are here for..to support you and to let you know that we GET IT! :) Now, just think of the weight you have lost already and get ready for more amazing weightloss after!

As for the weakness, I just made sure I didn't have to do any more work than absolutely necessary. All I did was laundry and take care of my baby girl. I didn't do much of anything else. My husband and 3 other kids picked up the slack. Do you have anyone who can help you? I figured the 'mess' will keep and I would get to it once I was healed up good and proper. it worked out alright..so the house was a bit dusty for a couple of weeks..big deal. I am worth it and SO ARE YOU! Be kind to yourself Cheryl!

Keep going girl. I know how you feel. When I really felt that way I decided to steam a chicken breast and I ate half of it that night with salad and then the other half 2 days later. It really pulled me through. My friend had the surgery in Mexico and they were allowed steamed chichen on their pre-op so I thought why not. I had my surgery and all was well. Right now about a week out and doing good.....but definetly craving food. I want a toasted salmon sandwich but am too afraid to try it so I will wait. I will eventually have one(or a half of one). Not overly hungry anymore just having cravings for the taste and texture. It will come. You will do fine. 1 week to go. You are doing great.

YAY! You are half way done! The pre-op could be easier but you are almost done. While on the pre-op I kept telling myself "eye on the prize" and when I would get really down I would look at websites of stores that I want to shop at after my weight loss.

In the USA, where we went, it was 2-3 shakes per day and a 'lean and green' meal at supper.  Hubby still lose 20-some pounds in the 2 weeks and did not have head things interupting work.  hey told us the pre-op diet was to shrink the liver so it is not in the way for the laproscopic stuff.  Did others hear that too?  Anyway, things worked out great and his recover has been remarkable!

All the best!  Will be thinking about you!

OH YEAH! I ate 2 cans of tuna, one per week. I would chomp a couple of bites at dinner while my family was chowing down and I was sauteing my veggies. Worked like a charm! It had no carbs!

Yes they do want us to shrink our liver, there are in fact MANY liver shrinking diets out there. I think our medical group is being strict with the diet because they want to show compliancy and success from us as a whole. They know this works and that people are less likely to cheat. I find it very sad when someone is sooooo down about this diet that they go eat a high carb meal. I decided that I was going to eat a bit more veggies, tuna or chicken if I got snappish..which I did..so I ate it. The doctor said my liver was PERFECT :)

Try not to stress yourself out too much Cheryl! You are almost there! I can't wait to meet you! :)

Hi guys,
I woke up sick this morning with a cold! Guess that's what was behind all the emotions yesterday. Besides the cold, I'm feeling better about it all. I will get through this it's not so bad. I was spring cleaning my house, like a dope! Trying to keep my mind preoccupied. I'm just trying to do to much. So this week I'm going to do the basic house hold chores and that's it. I figured because I was loving the shakes and I felt so good the first 3-4 days that it was going to be a walk in the park. "NO IT'S NOT!" Thanks for all daaaa looovve! you guys are so great! Group hug!
