Well I have 48 hours at home before I need to be at the hospital. Any last minute advise for what I need to have with me or what I need to do to make my recovery smooth.  I am getting very nervous, but doing better than I expected.

How exciting!

Try not to overpack, as there is very little that you need.
Remember to take: bathrobe, slippers, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balm, hairbrush, hand cream & deodorant.
An MP3 player may be nice. If you wear glasses, bring a glass case for them.
You'll need a pair of comfy loose-fitting clothes to wear home & that's about it.

Leave all your valuable at home, including any jewelry (I forgot to leave my wedding band at home & then had to hide it in my jeans pocket.)
Remember to bring your Manitoba Medical card & any private insurance card you may have.

I brought a book, magazines, & puzzles but didn't use any of them.
I took a ton of toilettries, but didn't end up showering until I got home.
I didn't even need a nightgown, towels, or extra blanket because the hospital supplies them.

I was very nervous the morning of the surgery. The first day afterwards I was seriously wondering whether or not I had done the right thing. Now I know that it was the best decision that I have ever made. No regrets!

Good luck!

Tanya

I concur with Tanya.  I so overpacked.  I didn't use any of it!  I didn't even use my bathrobe, because I just used another hospital gown over the other.
Take body lotion, I was so dry and of course lip balm.   I even brought my own shakes, G2, protein powder, benefibre.  I did use those.  I couldn't tolerate the hospital shakes.
Ohhhhhhh I am so excited for you.  Remember, the quicker you are up the speedier the recovery!
Take care and God Bless.
Keep us posted on your recovery!

Thanks. I spoke to a girl on the phone today who had the surgery and she said the first month was rough for her. She said she regreted doing the surgery. Now that she is better she says she has no regrets. My friend who had it done in Mexico a year ago said it was all no big deal and that she never once regretted it.  Well I hope all goes well. I am not looking forward to the surgery but I am looking forward to the end result. I have to push back getting my new kitchen a couple weeks because of it, but then I can enjoy all the cooking I want in it when I am feeling good. Thanks again for the words of support.

Bring your own protein drinks. The type that the hospital give you is really bad.
