Thanks rustyrose for the information. I think Dr. Nohr will work out much better for me. My sister lives in Bow Island so I can stay with her if necessary and not have to worry about hotels etc. I am glad Edmonton has such a great program but for me it isn't really realistic to do. By the time I fulfilled all their requirements I would have next to no sick time left and I am really hoping that thsi isn't going to take 3 years. I am still hoping to be done in Winnipeg eventually.
Best of luck in your surgery, I hope it goes well.

So just got off the phone with Edmonton. I haven't technically been referred as I haven't qualified yet for a referral.
You must physically attend at least 4 modules in Edmonton. Some modules require 2 trips in 30 days to compleate them. You must also have the Dr fill out a form saying you have been checked for mental illnesses et, along with the usual health questions. You must keep a food/exercise journal which must be checked here by a dietician. When all their requirements are met, and they have the completed form then they will decide if you are eligible for surgery through their program. While waiting for surgery you are required to continuing going to Edmonton to take their modules.
I am little offended that they presume that all obese people don't understand or practice good eating and healthy exercise.
This feels like overkill to me.I can't afford to do all that, so I guess when I see the Dr in late March we will look at some other options. Someone recommended Dr. Nohr, so I will ask about that, guess we will wait and see what happens.
