Got a response to the email I sent to Theresa Oswalds office at the end of January. It stated that the concerns regarding the wait times for bariatric surgery in Manitoba will be addressed, and they will follow up with me in the near future. The letter did not address the issue of criteria expansion which is another ball of wax. Anyone else recieve a response? I dont know if our letters will make a difference, but now we know they are being forwarded appropriately and the situation at least addressed. Keep sending your emails because we just may be able to make a difference.

I just sent my email to Ms. Oswald and really touched on the need to expand their criteria. I explained that I am healthy, no major health problems, physically active obese woman who doesn't qualify because of her weight, which to me makes no sense since that is the purpose of WLS. I hope they take in our concerns and work on improving the program and opening it to more people.

I know we did a email campaign through CNIB last year to keep their libray open. CNIB mails books, etc to members and the government wanted to charge to send the materials, which would force the library to close. It worked, as the government reversed it's decision and people like my son still receive reading material.
