Weight Loss Slow Down

This is a question for anyone who is 3 months post-op or more. What is your average weight loss per week now?

I was losing so well the first few months, and now I'm down to 1 - 1.5 lbs a week. Is this normal? Is this all I can expect?

I thought for the first six months, the pounds were supposed to fall off more quickly.

Anyway, I am just frustrated, so I would love some advice.

Thanks,
Tanya

Hi Tanya,
I have encountered the same thing , but I usually find that if I'm not eating and drinking enough the weight loss slows down. But if I'm sure to get in my fluids and protein I Will lose a little quicker  I also think the exercise has a  lot to do with it. Gotta keep or metabolism going.

My weight loss has slowed down a tiny bit, it seems like I lose in chunks now. I stay one weight for a couple of weeks, then 5 lbs drop off in a couple of days. I know that when I don't drink enough water or get my protein in, it's much slower then too.

We have to keep in mind that 1-2 lbs a week is a good pace for weight loss. We didn't gain the weight overnight, it's not going to come off lightning fast either. Sometimes you have to revamp the diet and exercise to shake things up a bit. Since I do low carb most of the time, for a day or two I will eat some carbs and up my water a bit more to 10+cups..next day I usually drop at least a pound. Then I go  back to low carb, since high carb makes me sluggish..LOL Not sure if you are exercising or not, but cardio really helped me( I'm just starting to work out now) in the past.

Don't get frustrated! You have done AMAZINGLY well already! Just keep at it Tanya!!

I appreciate the advice too as my VSG was December 10th and my weight loss has slowed to a crawl.  My MD says this is a more healthly way to lose.  Am increasing my activity level and will try to increase water intake but that is difficult when you get full so quickly.  :)

Try not to be too frustrated (I am trying but its tough once you've seen the numbers drop so quickly!).

Thanks again,
Keith

Thanks for the support everyone!

It helps knowing that I am not the only one experiencing this. I haven't started exercising yet. I keep promising myself that I will get out and walk once the weather improves.

You are right, a 1 - 2 lb/week is a healthy rate. I just get scared that if I have slowed down this much at month # 3, how slow will the weight loss be 3 months from now?

Patience has never been my strong suit.

Hey Tanya, I'm 4 months out and the nut told me that she wants me losing 1-2 lbs /wk. But I seem to get stuck for a few weeks at one weight and then it'll start moving again, but it definitely does slow down, but it is still going down, only slower and that's the important thing.Hang in there I totally know how you feel, I would love to be losing faster still!!!
take care,
