 Hello, to everyone.  I am home (at a friends house in the city).  Everything went very well, except about 12 hrs of vomitting post op.  I knew that going in because me and anaesthetic do not get along.  I am doing so well.  Really no pain, except for spasms when I swallow.  The first night in OSA room was a friggen nightmare. Was next to two old men who had prostate removals and they were so rude and inconsiderate, I almost had to rip their faces off.  Didn't sleep that night.  The next day they moved me to my own private room.  Heaven...  I got Toradol around the clock and found that helped alot.  Took one small dose of morphine and puked +++, so I didn't do that again.  I used Maxeran, Gravol and Zofran for nausea and that got me through.  I also made the mistake of taking 2 T3's and had absolute gut rot.  Won't do that again either.  I am taking Buscopan for the spasms and it is manageable.  Dr. Vergis has been wonderful.  The staff at the Vic was awesome too.  The director of the program came and spoke to me and she was very insiteful to the needs of the program, all they need is MB health to cooperate.  They do not get any funding for the program yet.  The hospital took this upon themselves to create as a pilot project and when they get the stats and successes then they approach MB health for funding apparently.  I told her about the struggles with those who has been waiting and she encourgages EVERYONE to email Theresa Oswalds office.  This will be beneficial in advocating for the program.  Well all in all, it was pretty much uneventful, touch wood.  And I should be progressing soon.

Congrats and I agree with Hayley....gets lots of rest and pamper yourself for the next week. Make sure you don't push yourself when you start feeling better as you still have lots of healing to do. I look forward to meeting you at the next meet and greet.

Hi Sherry;

I am very happy for you. So sorry about the nausea though - that must have been awful.

Once I was home, I found that 12hr Gravol was my "magic pill" for nausea. I hope that you find something that works for you.

Thanks so much for giving us the extra information about the program. I had no idea that the Vic was doing this on its own. Wow! I will definitely write Theresa Oswald.

Hang in there, you will feel better soon!
