They changed my surgeon again

Got a call from Julie today, wanting to know if I wanted Feb 14 or Feb 22, after confirming the 14th when they postponed my surgery a few weeks ago.  Hmmm.. Then I guess due to scheduling issues Dr. Andrew is not available for the 14th, so I have Dr. Vergis and Dr. Hardy.  I never met Dr. Vergis and spoke two words to Dr. Hardy.  This makes me nervous.  When you meet a surgeon and spend one hour, you make a connection and develop trust.  I find unnverving and I trying to not let me bother me.  Well irregardless of who does it, I have to suck it up and think, " Hey at least I am getting it done, right?" Ok, now I feel ok after ranting!

Dr. Vergis did my RNY and he was great. He even remembered to call my husband once I got out of surgery while I was being wheeled to the recovery room. He came and saw me everyday twice the first 2 days and once on the 3rd day which is the day that I went home. He had no problems answering my questions even when I was a little messed up on the morphine the first day and my husband said that I kept on asking the same questions over and over I have nothing but good things to say about him. Good luck on your surgery!!!

Thanks Michelle.  It certainly makes me feel better when I hear good things!

Hi,

I was told that it could be anyone doing the surgery, I got my surgeon of choice!  Dr. Andrew

Dr. Andrew did my surgery with Dr. Vergis(I think he was there).  Both doctors visited me in the hospital and on the last day Dr. Andrew brought in his beautiful daughter.  I thought that was a nice touch, made him seem like a real person and not just a surgeon doing his job.  The whole group of surgeons are great, I have met with Dr. Hardy post-op.  They all do a good job!!  I just wish the office had more than one person working, and more than one dietician.  It takes too long to get call backs and way too long to get appointments post-op(they only work in the clinic on certain days).

I am glad that my surgery is over, and I look forward to many more friends having theirs!!  I wish that the waiting time was shorter.

Hi there! Hope everything works out for you, and your comfortable with the Dr.s doing it.
                 I just joined this wls group and have a few questions....If anyone could answer them It would be greatly appreciated. I've just recently had my appointments with Dr. Andrews and the mental health worker, and dietitian. All I have to do now is get all the blood work and paper work done with my family Doctor. How long after all this stuff is complete do you get in for the surgery? I have been on a waiting list now for almost a year. Do you go onto a new waiting list now or how does it work...Thanks....

Hi Cinnamon;

As soon as the clinic received the bloodwork and paperwork from my doctor, Julie called me to arrange for a surgery date. My guess, is that once your paperwork is in, you will only have to wait a month.
