Waiting Times for WLS in Manitoba

I got a question for all those on the list....

If the program is covered by Manitoba Health, would a phone call to them be of any use? 

The squeeky wheel gets the grease!! 

Is there a certain number to call?  Or do you call the surgeon you were referred to?  I may just have to start squeekin'.  

For all of us that have gotten to go how long was it from the time the doctor sent in your referral to the time that you got sugery? For me it was 10 months.

I would start by lobbying Theresa Oswalds (Minister of Health) office. Complaint to your MLA for your area.  Then try calling the Manitoba Health office and asking them for contact names. 
I waited 10 months for my consult.

Hi. I just had a meeting yesterday with the dietitian and the day before the mental health worker. Have all of you got to this stage yet? My Dr. sent a re feral in about 1year ago, so It's taken awhile to get to this stage of the game. Good luck to you all!

I sent an email to Thersa Oswald's office through this email address.  I got an answer, but the more people that write and bring it to her attention hopefully the answer will change.  I was told it is a pilot program.

hi teasha, i sent an email to theresa oswald about 3 days ago but i have not yet had a response. im not expecting much, however you are definitely right  that maybe if she recieves enough emails, she may look further into the program and give increased funding a little more consideration.
