Did anyone use these? I asked the nurse at the hospital and she said not to  use them. I called the Doctor's office asking them about them and of course I never got a return call.

I certainly used them but did not find them a big help.  Walking, burping and farting were the key!

My MD said no problem but then I had the sleeve.

Hi Michelle;

I really didn't have a problem with gas. At least nothing that couldn't be helped by releasing it (out the top, or out the bottom, LOL). I believe that Dr. Vergis said that I could use the Gas-X strips if I wanted. Maybe the hospital staff just wanted you to avoid them for a day or two?

I do have a tendency to get hiccups easily now though - very embarassing when I am at work.

Maybe your gp could answer your question?

Hang in there!

Hi,
I had the RNY surgery over 2.5 yrs ago.... I've used GAS-X chewable tablets in the last year (very successful for me).

I had my surgery in Alberta and did not have follow-up care here in Manitoba.  It would be good to check with your surgeon about this  and also check why/when you would take it.  How post-op are you?

HI Michelle!!

Welcome home! I am thrilled that everything went well for you. I tried to use gas-x strips but they didn't work for me. I foud walking was the very best way to get rid of gas.
Take care,
Nikki
