Happy New Years to my New Friends!!!
Happy New Years!!
I must say that I've been reading through the message board and I am excited for all of you & Hopeful on getting my own surgery date. I've been waiting ages it seems to get surgery.
I first tried getting it done here in MB but there was no set up at that time... So I was referred out of province. That has been nothing but frustrating... Its been numerous flights and still nothing back about a surgery date.
Recently my Dr. Told me I was re-referred to the St. Boniface Surgical here in MB and that's totally exciting to hear. I've read that most have been waiting month ths..... And believe me 8-10 months is nothing when you have been waiting since 05 lol .... I'm very glad to know that wls is here. Does anyone have any more info or opinions to share with me regarding their experiences in wls in Manitoba.
I would like to hear about the doctors here doing it.
Butterfly, I too am waiting to hear about a referral. I consisdered WLS out of porvince but due to my son's special needs felt it would be too traumatic for him and therefore stressful for me. At least in Winnipeg, he can take me to hospital and see me after surgery. Dad will be in fro a couple of rough days til I get home, but I think with my daughter's help it will be doable. My doc sent my referral in November so I know I still have some time to wait, but since I made the decision to do this I am feeling impatient.
I've been trying to get to Curves and walk on treadmill so that I can be as healthy as possible should they agree to surgery. I have been going for a couple of years but have found some new determination since seeing the Dr. Keep in touch, I would love to hear about how things go for you.
I am already so inspired by the people on here that have had WLS and are doing so well!
