This is the day that my journey begins.  It is the day of my surgery.  Tonight, I sit in a hotel in Medicine Hat, AB - relaxing, watching movies, drinking green tea - and waiting for my pizza.  I had thought about not having a "last supper" but in retrospect, I decided to go ahead and order some pizza.

I left Winnipeg on Friday and started this leg of my journey - my husband, sister and youngest daughter drove me to the airport.  We took some pictures (the before shots).  My sister loaned me a book, which I started reading this morning.  Same author as the Secret.  My early reading of this book was the statement that the Power is LOVE.  I started this journey (4 years ago) not liking me, never mind loving me.  And today I can honestly say that I love myself.  This hasn't been an easy process to get to, but I do.

I have made some hard choices in my life - to put me first was the hardest.  That's just not how I was raised!!  I'm a care-giver by nature.  And looking after other people is what I do.  To make others happy, to make sure others are comfortable, etc.  You know the drill, right - we've all done it.  But when I made the decision to start this journey 4 years ago, that was the beginning of me loving myself.  I am not doing this for anyone else - just me.  Because I am worth it!!!  I am a beautiful women, just turned 40 with dreams of travel and spending years and years with those I love.

So, Monday, December 6, 2010 is the first day of the rest of my life.  And LOVE is the answer to all of life's questions......

That was so beautiful to read. I can feel your emotions just jumping from the page!

I was told before, you have to take and love yourself, before you can take care and love others.

It holds so much truth! But, not so easy for me to do at the best of times.

I am so happy and excited for you..

Wishing you so much happiness and health!

So I am new to this site, how long did you have to wait to go for surgery? I am waiting for a referral to a surgeon in Winnipeg. Thanks
