HOw long to take off work?
Hi Sherry;
I am having a RNY and planning on taking a full two weeks off of work.
I have also told my workplace, that I could need up to two additional weeks depending on recovery time/complications, etc.
My plan is to take 2 full weeks off and then come back for half-days and see how that goes. If I am up to coming in for full days, great.
I have a desk-job, for the most part, so I think that two weeks will be plenty for me.
If you have a more physically demanding job, then you may need more time. It isn't that you can't move around, it is just that you may not be able to consume all the calories you need in a day, so you will feel weak.
Good Luck!
Tanya

I have a desk job and I took the FULL 8 weeks off and it was wonderful!!
I could have gone back after 6 weeks, but after having my guts rearranged and my gallbladder removed and I had to travel across Canada to do so, I figured I'd earned it, lol.
It helped that I had a great insurance plan through work as well.
