I know some of yous had commented that once you had your surgery date its all you can think about. Well I found that to be very true , ever since I got my surgery date I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I wake up thinking about the surgery and go to bed thinking about it. I have all kinds of questions running through my head.
Should I take my bag with me or should I get my husband to bring it up after the surgery.
Are we allowed to use our cell phones once we are put in a room.
Will I even get a room.
What do I need to take to the hospital.
Should I take pajamas, will they let me wear them.
It's kind off like waiting to open that special gift at christmas. Well for me this is the best christmas gift I could give my self and I can hardly wait.

Hey Susan!

Yes it really is all that you think about and will be.....well I can say for at least one month after. This Tuesday will be 4 weeks and it is constantly on my mind. I think it's because food is such an important part of our daily living. But I hope that once I am able to eat everything or mostly everything it won't be occuping my mind so much. Plus, I don't know about you but in my case I had never chosen to have surgery. So that was a constant question in my mind....am I doing the right thing....is everything going to be OK?? And now when I think about it I really should have realized that the doctors have picked us because they want success and they have done tons of surgeries and everything will be great!

As for the other questions: You might as well let your husband bring your bag up because you won't need it till later anyway and then he can bring it to the room you'll be staying in.

I used my cell phone when I was in the room with 5 other people but only a couple of times but you definitley can text. Later when I had a private room I just used the phone there unless it was long distance then I used my cell phone.

I didn't take pajamas just pajama bottoms so my ass didn't hang out, but used the hospital gowns because of the intravenous in your arm it was just easier!

What you should take, pack what you want and then take 3/4 of it out...that's what I should have done!!! Didn't use half the stuff I packed. But of course I did forget my toothbrush and toothpaste which I really needed so my husband brought in a bunch of different kinds, Too cute!!!! I used alot of hand lotion (thanks Mishyme!!!!) and lip stuff. You really don't need as much as you think they really take good care of you. Oh ya, take a picture of your family or kids, I took one of Hudson and it was a reminder why I had chose to have this surgery and kept me pushing and doing what I needed to so that I could go home to him!

Take care and I am so happy for you!!!

Just about lovin her sleeve,
Donalda

Hi Donalda,
Your right our lives do revolve around food whether you are getting together with friends or going out for a drink there's always food around but now we have to learn how to control it and not let it control us. I have had surgery before but never requested it,  It just feels right . Thank you so much for answering my questions, I am one of those people who always packs way too much LOL trying to break a bad habit. But I'm always prepared for anything. I will definitely bring pj bottoms then , there's nothing worse than your ass hanging out ha ha.  I am really glad to have found this site everyone is so full of information and tons of support. Thanks again
