Hi Sue;
Sorry to hear that you had complications. How long were you in the hospital.
I'm glad to hear that you are now on some real food. It sounds like you are pushing the protein which is great.
Hang in there.

HI,

I had my VSG on October 19, 2010, surgery was for 10:30am(they were late, taken at 11am) I got up to my room at 3:30pm.  So I was told by my family, I do not remeber anything from the first 2 days!!

Welcome to the Site and to a whole new way of life!!

I had my RNY 14 months ago and am proud to say that as of today I'm 129 lbs. down and healthier than I've ever been before.

It hasn't always been a bed of roses I tell ya, it's been pretty damn hard but most certainly worth it.  I have a pretty detailed blog about my experiences if you're at all interested in reading them.

If you're looking for a good protein bar, Costco has some called Detour.  There are 3 different flavours in a box of 15 and I absolutely love them!  I also love the Premier shakes too, it replaces my need for chocolate milk, lol.

If you ever have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  This website has helped me tremendously, and I have quite a few members on my facebook and we support each other that way too.

Take care and I wish you tons of success!!

My surgery is set for Monday Dec 6 2010. I am quite excited at the prospect of a fresh start. I know this will be the hardest thing that I've done but I am doing this for me.

My eldest child started doing some research today on my procedure and is quite unhappy about my decision. My husband doesn't say much of anything. My sister has been quite supportive even if she doesn't understand why. And my parents - well - let's just say they aren't thrilled about this either LOL. Darn good thing I'm doing this for me and no one else!!!

Any tips for someone just starting on this journey would be greatly appreciated.

 Allisson,

You are doing the right thing for you...and that's what matters.  For so many years, if you're like me you were too busy taking care of everyone else, and not taking care of yourself.
Well now it's your turn!

Please read my blog if you'd like an honest view of life after RNY and please feel free to add me as a friend on here or facebook for additional support.  I'm willing to answer any question no matter how personal.  We're all in this together!

Your life is about to change and I'm so excited for you!!  I'll shove over on the losers bench...there's plenty of room for you!!

Take care!

Jo
