Did anyone need a pre-op gastroscopy?

I had the gastroscopy done today, to rule out any hernia's or abnormalities in my stomach.  All is good for Jan 24.  I am getting very excited.

According to the letter that Dr. Vergis gave my physician, it seems up to my gp which tests I had to undergo. They require a EKG, a chest x-ray and blood work. Besides that, my physician didn't have to send me for any other tests unless she thought it would be necessary. So, if you were sent for a gastroscopy, then it was probably at your physicians' request.

Anyway, it seems to take forever to get the pre-op work done, but once the information is received in good order by the clinic, you will get your date!

I had the gastroscopy. It was one of the worst procedures that I've ever gone through!!!!
If you mentioned issues with gastric reflux/heartburn they might want to do the scope to rule out other possible issues that could be indicated by heartburn. They don't want a surprise when they go into the surgery. I've had years of GERD and a past history of esophogeal/peptic ulcers so Dr. Andrew felt it prudent to do this test on me.
