2 weeks to new beginnings

December 6 2010 - the date that my new life begins.  I've been waiting for 3 years to have the WLS performed.  Lots of thought went into this decision for me. Some of my family understand the decision I've made and some don't.  But that's ok - I am not doing this for others - I am doing this for me.  Finally something for me.  Who knew it would take 40 years for me to look out for myself.

I have to travel to Alberta because there was no WLS in Manitoba back when I signed up for it.  I'm looking forward to the journey and am happy to be taking this journey on my own.  I fly to AB on Dec 3 and my surgery is Dec 6 and I'll be back home by Dec 15.  I'll be healing at my sisters for the remainder of the month.

What vitamins would you recommend I take?  I want to start planning and making my purchases for when I return.

Thanks for the advice!!

You must be so excited. Your special day is right around the corner.
As far as the vitamin thing... I started taking a chewable multivit. months prior to surgery. If you are up for it, start taking them now.
Good luck and keep us posted!!

What type of surgery are you having, and where in AB are you going?  I had RNY in Red Deer, AB April 2009.  My Dr. strongly suggested I take special vitamins specific to bariatric surgery.  The company he suggested was Minoque medical the web site is http://www.minogue-med.com/  I ordered them and had them a few days later.  All the Vitamins are chewable.  I took a Multi vitamin, Calcium, B12, Vitamin D, Iron.  The more vitamiins you can get in a chewable form the better.  They absorb better into your system.  I also bought a vitamin from Jamison called Silica for hair loss.  If you have fine or thin hair you may want to start taking this.  I lost a lot of hair even with taking Silica.

Good Luck.  this is the best decision I have ever made for myself.
