When to start the annoying follow up calls??

ok, so I went to my Gp and asked for a referal  to see a surgeon in St B... My Dr. was not even aware the MB health covers some surgerys for obesity. Nor, did he know who to contact. SO with my handy-dandy info from some wonderfully helpful people one here, who provided me info before..I gave him the info I had!
 (hmmm, should I be concered he contacted the right place, or Dr..or anything seeing I was giving him the info to all this???).

anywaaaayss..what I would like to know is, what is a good time line to start calling to see if my info was sent..or to call St B,..and ask if my info was recieved ..in other words, to know if the "ball" is rolling yet. 

How long did it take from seeing your GP, before you heard from someone in StB for an appointment?

Hi Karenanne. I asked my GP to send in my referral on Sept 15. and i phoned Julie at the bariatric clinic on Sept 16 to ensure it was recieved and it was. The referral form that your gp needs to fax over is very short. Call Julie at the clinic 258-1078 and ask her, and then you can stop wondering. I know how you feel, i am totally consumed by this, because you want it to happen NOW.anyway, let us all know how its going. good luck

I waited 2 weeks and called, and Julie had it. Then 2 mths after that with some more questions and to see when I would be called. January, won't come soon enough, I always say there is no harm in asking, plus it was my Dr's first time putting a referral in for this type of surgery also.

My referal went in March 11, 2010. My consultation appointment was in the middle of October. Hope that helps.

I had called a number, but apparently was the wrong number. Whovever I was talking to on the phone had no idea what I was talking about..lol..(albeit likely I rambled a tad, as I was rushed for time at work...)..But I will call the number you gave Haley.. If nothing has been recieved I will ask Julie where/what number my Dr needs . 
I am not feeling too confident that my Dr actually did a referral. He has never sent a referral for this either.So this way I can have exactly what he needs. lol

That is the wrong number the last 2 numbers are 87 not 78
