Hey ladies,
Just thought of a couple of things that you might or might not like to know:

1. When in the hospital I was put on Nexium which is a pill that I believe reduces the acid in your stomach, well just so that you are prepared, when I filled the 42 day prescription it was $103.00. I have Manulife and usually only pay 7.50 for a prescription, I am still going to submit it and it still might be covered or submit it to my husbands and it might be covered through his.

2. I am taking Tylenol extra strength every once in awhile and while in the hosptal after I was taken off Morphine they put me on T3's with codeine. Well they have to be crushed since we can't take them whole, and they are NASTY!!!!! So I have read on the VSG forum that there is a liquid tylenol for adults but I am not sure if this is only in the US but I am definitely checking next time I go shopping. If your planning a trip down south before your surgery or someone you know is  going I would suggesting to pick some up.Or even better if something like this is available in Canada please let us know! It will make it a heck of alot easier! Plus if you can pick up some flavoured greek yoogurt at Target or Walmart. I have heard that some are bitter but they are extremely high in protein so worth it and hard to find in Canada.

Thanks and will try and post little things like that just in case!!!

Dean

P.S Feeling not to bad today, just a bit lightheaded and weak so I am trying to drink a protein shot which I got in Grand Forks. It is small, juice-like and 26g of protein. It's not the good either...can't wait to get some protein from food....mmmm tuna!!! LOL! Tomorrow I am going to try some flavoured greek yogurt in the morning and something for supper!!!!

Hi!  So good to read your posts and know you are on the road to success!

Thanks for all the tips, my hub and I are on the 1 month count down so all info is both helpful and scary.  I want to be ready for anything, well almost anything!

Take care!

I am excited that a meeting time has been set.
I will see you all on Wednesday.
If there are a lot of us, we made need to move to the reading room, if it is free.
Tanya

P.S. I am happy to hear that I am not the only one with last minute fears. I know that this is the right decision for me but it seems so extreme. I guess an extreme solution is needed for an extreme problem. I know that there is no way that I can succeed without it. My first fears were about managing the MediTrim (i start it on the 22nd.) Now I am worried about how I will manage right after surgery. I am such a wuss when it comes to pain. It was nice to hear that the staff at the Vic were helpful. Just knowing that they are supportive helps a lot. I think I fear getting a nasty nurse who thinks we are second class citizens for needing this kind of intervention.

FYI...I picked up liquid tylenol at Tache pharmacy prior to my surgery. You can get liquid Advil if you wi**** has to be made up and it takes a couple of days. It is kind of costly but worth it.
This is the only place that you can get it in Winnipeg.
Good luck

Hi,

I don't think you are supposed to take Advil post op. I am not sure as i have not had the surgery yet, but i think i read somewhere that post sleeve should not take Advil right away.
Glad you are doing so well!

The Greek yogurt at Costco is very good quality and high protein.  Just mix in whatever flavor you like...baby food puree and vanilla extract makes great fruit flavored Greek yogurt. 175 ml is 20 g. protein!

I had a two week RX for Nexium and it was NOT covered by my Blue Cross plan so it cost $45 for 14 pills.  The good news is I did not need it every day and still have some left, it works just fine when I take it as needed.  I will be trying Pepcid AC as this is supposed to work well.

Dean, I am already taking my pills without crushing and the tylenol won't last long. I just had  water close by and drank it right after the tylenol.  IMHO it is not worh the expense of liquid, as long term tylenol causes other complications which are worse and the post op pain does subside really fast, you will see!   I was off all pain med by post op day 6 and haven't taken one since.

I highly recommend Benefibre or Metamucil if you are still on Tylenol

Hope this helps,

Deb

Thanks Deb!

I haven't taken any tylenol yet today and probably won't since I only have a gas pain every once in awhile and even though they are bad it doesn't help it anyway! Also my incision sites are kinda sore definitely not worth taking any for them. I am really not one to want to take anything prefer to handle it like a big girl...LOL!

Are you going on Wednesday?
