I AM HOME!!!!

Well all the stress and anxiety was such a waste. Everyone is amazing and will take amazing care of you!  And the last minute before surgery I thought "I am not leaving my little man!"

The surgery went well. I was in recovery a bit longer because I was having alot of chest pain. I thought I was having a heart attack, They did an EKG and it did show a little wonky so late they did another test and it was fine. Apparently it is quite normal to have chest pains because one of the ports is right at the center of your chest bone and that is where the liver retractor is and so alot of pressure is put on that area. That pain continued all the first night. Then that went away, I still get some pain when I have a gas bubble. Then the spasms started on the left side which I think were a combo of gas pain and as Dr. Vergis said, it's like being stabbed in the stomach. They were horrible, when they happened. But the second day was the worst for that and by that night they had eased up. I got some of the warmed blankets they have there and placed them on my tummy, so nice! I started walking the Thursday and taking the protein drink (YUCK) and of course sipping water which I started Tuesday the day of surgery. Overall there were bad times and good times but the staff were unbelievable, so caring and really they were the one reason I didn't want to come home yesterday!!! Gas right now and trying to get my water in are my priorities. Walk, sip, rest! They make sure you are as pain free as possible and that you have everything you need and that nothing is overlooked.

I haven't been hungry except this morning I had a little gurgling going on in there. I think I have put on 5 lbs though!!!! It better be gas! LOL!

Well I am going to go lay down, feeling pretty sleepy and the house is quiet!

Glad to be back!

I'm so glad to hear that you are home. I am glad to hear that your recovery has gone well! (minus a few bumps)We were all praying for you.
So the protein shakes are as bad as everyone has been saying?  If so I think that I might just go to Costco and buy some.
You will have to let us know (once the gas weight has passed) what your weight loss has been.
Hearing that you had that moment before the surgery of panic helps me because i am going threw it already.  It helps to know that maybe i am not the only one who is this scared.    I want to thank you for keeping us updated. I think that it is very important information for the people still waiting in the bleachers and I hope that i can be of help for others as you were for us

Oh you are soo normal, everyone and I mean everyone I talked to...was scared. I think because you are choosing this surgery, I have had surgery before but didn't choose it and so it was necessary. I wish I would have thought about my son like I did when I went in, I am not leaving him!! Once I said that, i knew I was going to be OK! As will you! Make sure you get the broth, for some reason I was getting it, and the lady who had hers after me was getting it. I didn't even have nausea! The broth is so good, now normally it wouldn't be but it was like heaven! So make sure you get that and jello!

Thanks for the prayers!
