I'm having the gastric bypass...i think i'm the first to have it done in mb. Hope i made the right choice...it's my one worry right now. But what's done is done, no turning back now.

ahh, that must be why it is on a Monday!  They were telling me at the hospital that they had not done any bypass procedures yet, so you must be the first!

I had the same last minute jitters and wanted to run screaming from the hospital on the morning of my surgery.  It is completely NORMAL to be feeling this way and I continued to feel it afterwards, but now that I am home recovering and thinking of a healthy future, I know I made the right choice and you have too!  You will do great and find all the support you need here.

I have a friend who is waiting for her appt, and we were wondering what made the bypass your choice?  For me, the  Dr. recommended the sleeve as the best choice for me , but wondering if they gave you the choice or what led you to the decision?

I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow!  Best of luck and keep us posted on your recovery.

I too had my surgery on the 19th, I was not as lucky as you fortunada!!  You beat me home by one day, they had to keep me because my potassium levels were too low.  So I was hooked back up to the IV for another 6 hours yeaterday.  I got home around 8pm last night.

Sleeping was hard as the bed in the hospital has arms and my bed does not.  Getting up to go pee was not nice on the stomach muscles.

Nasuea..... lets get started there!  They pushed Maxeran and some 8 hour lasting med that did nothing!  Gravol IV was my best friend.  The first day I was on the PCA and vomitted.  Once the nasuea was under control on day 3 I was able to get out of bed and walk the hall.

Cold water hurt my tiny stomach, room temp was nice.  Then I got LS Chicken Broth for lunch(little hospital cup) and WOW that was good.  Hot felt so nice on the tiny tummy.  I looked forward to supper that nite!!  LS vegetable stock and again that was good too.  It tastes awefull but the hot was good.

They tried to give me the "shake" the hospital issue stuff, I drank 15mls and got fire acid heartburn for the next four hours.  They had calls into the dr and finally I got my NEXIUM.  The fire was out.  I take 1 pill(disolved in warm water) per day for the next 2 weeks.  It helps so much.

So for supper tonight I ate mashed pureed watered down potatoes. 2 tspns and took 10 minutes to eat!!   WOW they are soo good.

My bowels are not having fun with the LS Chicken Broth, I have had greasy, yellow biled bm's!!  Fun stuff! This could be because I have NO GALLBLADDER.
I hope that in another few days I will be able to say.......... I love my sleeve!!

PS   can you walk 30-40 minutes or 2 miles on day 2 or 3?  Some people are claiming this in another forum.  I find that very hard to beleive.

I wanted to come visit you (once I broke out of the OSA Risk room) but never could quite figure out if they would tell me where you were:)

I too had the maxoran but really took it for preventitive measures, as so far no nausea for me.
I agree the protein shake from the hospital is like sludge but somehow I drank one whole one over 7 hours on my last day to get out and go home. I have not had too much reflux, they were giving me some medication (started with an R, can't recall the name) through IV that did wonders, in conjunction with the maxoran so I was all good on that front. They took the IV out the night before I went home so I had to switch to nexium and a also taking this for 2 weeks.  Wonder pill.   Some other forums recommend Pepcid in place of Nexium.

No I cannot walk 2 miles but am easily walking 5 short (and I do mean short) walks a day.  I am trying to take it easy before I feel fatigued rather than after
.
I have hit my protein mark of 70g per day for two days in a row and quite easily can have two costco shakes a day or 1 costco and 1 protein powder.  I am having a bit of broth and tried sf jello today but didn't know we could be mashing veggies yet...I am so in for those potatoes.
I have no heartburn and am easily hitting my protein and liquid goals.

On our one week date, I am going to start on yogurt, and low fat cream souos and a fruit smoothie with protein powser and frozedn blended fruit (magic bullet here I come)
My bowels are non existent and Julie said to drink prune juice and benefibre so I am hoping for a little bit of joy tomorrow.

How are you feeling overall?  Are you moving to Phase 2 foods yet....
I never could find you on facebook, send me the link to your facebook again and we can stay in touch, I have some great ideas for recipes already!
